Redesign of 'Appie'
From a user’s perspective, grocery shopping is not the same as shopping for clothes. Yet, the way supermarkets have entered the field of online grocery ordering is a very similar experience. While shopping for clothes can be perceived as fun to do, grocery shopping seldom is. For this reason, Ahold asked our UX team of 7 to come up with a new experience in 2 days.
Grocery shopping from a user perspective, is about planning your recipes of the week. Many users that shop online for groceries have busy lives, often including children and changing schedules.
Planning dinners is made easier with the redesign of the app. The central feature is a week-planner in which you can add/create your own recipes, or recommendations can be done based on your preferences.
Currently, only one member of the family can do the shopping. We included the whole family, so that when your children empty the peanut butter, they can add a new one to the shopping list. The final call is of course still with the parent.
